How Meelio's AI generates clinical notes, care plans, and meal plans.
Meelio's AI can generate several types of clinical documents — called artifacts — from your consultations and patient data.
Artifact Types

How Generation Works
- Request — Ask the AI via chat or click a suggested action
- Context — The AI uses the consultation transcript, patient records, and your templates
- Generation — The document streams into the Artifact Panel in real time
- Review — You can edit, refine with chat, or approve the result
What the AI Considers
When generating artifacts, the AI takes into account:
- Consultation transcript — The full conversation from the recording
- Patient health profile — Demographics, conditions, medications, allergies, lab results
- Existing plans — Previous care plans and meal plans for context and continuity
- Your templates — The structure and prompts defined in your template library
- Your specialty — Tailored to your professional background
Clinical Note Formats
Meelio supports multiple clinical note formats through templates:
- SOAP — Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan
- DAP — Data, Assessment, Plan
- PIE — Problem, Intervention, Evaluation
- BIRP — Behavior, Intervention, Response, Plan
- Narrative — Free-form clinical narrative
- Custom — Any format you define through templates
Meal Plan Calculations
When generating meal plans, the AI performs calculations including:
- BMR — Basal Metabolic Rate (Mifflin-St Jeor formula)
- TDEE — Total Daily Energy Expenditure with activity multipliers
- Macronutrient targets — Protein, carbohydrate, and fat distribution
- Safety checks — Medication interaction validation and calorie safety floors
Tips for Better Results
- Be specific — "Generate a SOAP note focusing on the dietary changes we discussed" produces better results than "Generate a note"
- Provide context — If important information wasn't captured in the recording, tell the AI
- Use templates — Custom templates help the AI match your preferred format and level of detail
- Iterate — Ask for refinements rather than regenerating from scratch
