Sharing & Admin
Share skills with your practice, understand the patient-information check, and manage practice-wide settings.
A skill is either personal to you or shared with your practice. There is no third option — nothing you write is ever published outside your organisation.
Your Library
Settings → Skills shows two lists:
- Your skills — Everything you have written or installed, with a count out of your limit of 50.
- Shared with your practice — Everything anyone in your practice has shared, out of a practice limit of 100. Anyone in your practice can use these.
Sharing a Skill
Turn on Share with my practice in the editor and save. The skill then goes through a check before anyone can use it, and shows a Checking… pill in the meantime. This usually takes a few seconds; you get a notification when it clears.
Sharing a skill you have had personally for months still re-runs the check. The earlier result cleared it for you to read; sharing it means colleagues will read it too, which is a different question.
The Patient-Information Check
Every skill is checked for patient information. Skills are procedures meant to be reused across everyone you see, so a patient's name, record number or results do not belong in one.
If a skill is flagged, it shows a Flagged pill and an explanation:
This looks like it contains patient information. Skills are procedures — describe the steps without naming a patient or including their details. Editing it clears the flag and re-runs the check.
A flagged skill cannot be loaded into a chat until it is fixed. Edit it, remove the patient detail, and save — that clears the flag and re-runs the check automatically. You also get a notification with a direct link to the editor.
If a skill sits on Checking… for more than about ten minutes, Meelio says how long it has been waiting and offers a Re-check button.
Note: A personal skill is usable as soon as you save it, while part of the check is still finishing in the background. A skill you are about to share is held until the check completes, because sharing it crosses a boundary between people.
Using a Colleague's Shared Skill
You can load any shared skill into a chat exactly like your own. What you cannot do is edit someone else's — instead, their row offers Duplicate, which copies the skill into your own library as a personal skill. Change your copy however you like; theirs is untouched.
You can also read its version history and export it.
Who Can Edit and Delete
- The person who created a skill can always edit, share, and delete it.
- A practice admin or owner can also edit and delete skills that are shared with the practice.
- Nobody can edit another person's personal skills.
Deleting a shared skill removes it for everyone in the practice, and cannot be undone.
Skills belong to the practice they were written in. If a practitioner moves to a different practice, their skills do not travel with them.
Practice Controls
Admin only: These two switches sit in the Practice section at the bottom of Settings → Skills and are only visible to practice admins and owners.
Assistant Skills for This Practice
Turns skills off for everyone in your practice. Nobody will be able to load a skill into a chat.
Nothing is deleted — every skill anyone has written is kept, and turning the setting back on restores all of it. While it is off, practitioners see a short explanation on the Skills page rather than an empty screen.
There is deliberately no per-practitioner switch. A skill only ever loads because that practitioner just picked it, or because they left the assistant free to pick it.
Assistant May Choose Skills
Controls whether the assistant can load, save, and revise skills on its own. Turn it off and skills still work — the assistant simply only uses the ones people attach themselves. Nothing is deleted.
Individual practitioners can opt a single skill out of this without changing the practice setting, using Let the assistant use this on its own in the editor.
Privacy
Skills are stored inside your Meelio practice. They are not shared with other practices, not used to train models, and never leave the same infrastructure that holds the rest of your clinical data. The patient-information check exists to keep it that way: a skill is meant to describe your method, and your method is not patient data.
