Troubleshooting
Audio Issues
Fix echo, no sound, or microphone not detected issues in Meelio.
No Audio Being Captured
If recordings produce no transcript or capture no audio:
- Check permissions — Ensure Meelio has Microphone and System Audio Recording access. See macOS Permissions
- Check your microphone — Open System Settings → Sound → Input and verify your microphone is selected and showing activity
- Restart Meelio — Quit (Cmd+Q) and reopen the app
- Test with another app — Verify your microphone works in another application
Recording Stalls
Meelio v0.1.243 includes improved detection for recording stalls (when the app is recording but no audio data is being received).
If Meelio detects a stall, you will see a notification or error message. If this happens:
- Check your connection — If using a Bluetooth or USB microphone, ensure it is still connected.
- Reset the audio engine — Stop the current recording and try starting a new one.
- Restart the app — If the issue persists, quit and reopen Meelio.
Echo in Recordings
If the transcript shows duplicated speech or echo:
- Go to Settings → Recording & Transcription
- Check that Echo Cancellation is enabled
- If already enabled, try wearing headphones during consultations to prevent speaker audio from being picked up by the microphone
Only Capturing One Speaker
If the transcript only shows your voice (or only the patient's voice):
- Your voice missing — Check that the correct microphone is selected in System Settings → Sound → Input
- Patient's voice missing — Ensure the System Audio Recording (Screen Recording) permission is granted.
- In-person consultations — Make sure both speakers are within range of the microphone
Poor Transcription Quality
If the transcript has many errors:
- Try Enhanced mode — Switch to Enhanced Transcription in Settings for higher accuracy
- Improve audio quality — Use the Best audio quality preset in Settings
- Reduce background noise — Record in a quieter environment
- Use a better microphone — External microphones generally produce better results than built-in laptop microphones
Audio Quality Settings
If you need to adjust audio settings:
- Go to Settings → Recording & Transcription
- Adjust the Audio Quality slider:
- Good — Adequate for most environments, lower data usage
- Recommended — Best balance of quality and data (default)
- Best — Maximum quality, higher data usage
