Troubleshooting
macOS Permissions
Fix microphone and system audio recording permission issues on macOS.
If Meelio can't record audio, the most common cause is missing macOS permissions.
Check Permission Status
- Open System Settings (Apple menu → System Settings)
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Check both:
- Microphone → Meelio should be toggled ON
- System Audio Recording (or Screen Recording) → Meelio should be toggled ON
Granting Permissions
If Meelio Isn't Listed
If Meelio doesn't appear in the Microphone or System Audio Recording lists:
- Close Meelio completely (Cmd+Q)
- Reopen Meelio
- The permission prompt should appear — click Allow
If Meelio Is Listed but Toggled Off
- Toggle Meelio ON in the permission list
- macOS may ask you to restart Meelio — click Quit & Reopen if prompted
- Reopen Meelio after it closes
After Granting Permissions
Meelio v0.1.243 and later can now detect and use permissions immediately after they are granted. If recording still doesn't work after granting permissions:
- Quit Meelio completely (Cmd+Q)
- Wait a few seconds
- Reopen Meelio
- Try starting a consultation
If the issue persists, restart your Mac.
System Audio Recording Is for Audio Only
The System Audio Recording permission (labeled as Screen Recording on some versions of macOS) is used to capture your patient's voice during video calls. Meelio does not record your screen visually.
Permission Was Denied Previously
If you previously denied a permission and the system dialog doesn't appear again:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Find the relevant permission (Microphone or System Audio Recording)
- Manually toggle Meelio ON
- Restart Meelio
